Numerology for Newborns: Life Path Numbers Explained

May 20, 2026 · 5 min read

Numerology turns your baby's date of birth into a single number that describes their natural rhythm. It's older than astrology, simpler to calculate, and a useful complement to a birth chart — especially if you don't know the exact birth time.

How to calculate a Life Path number

Add every digit of the birth date together, then keep reducing until you're left with a single digit (1–9) or one of the master numbers 11, 22, or 33. Example: 14 March 2026 → 1+4+3+2+0+2+6 = 18 → 1+8 = 9. The Life Path is 9.

What each Life Path means for a child

  • 1 — independent, leader, learns by trying it themselves.
  • 2 — sensitive, peace-loving, thrives with close 1:1 attention.
  • 3 — expressive, playful, needs an audience and creative outlets.
  • 4 — steady, methodical, calmed by routine and clear rules.
  • 5 — curious, restless, needs novelty and freedom to roam.
  • 6 — nurturing, responsible, the family caretaker from age 3.
  • 7 — thoughtful, observant, needs quiet space to recharge.
  • 8 — ambitious, capable, naturally drawn to leading other kids.
  • 9 — empathetic, idealistic, feels other people's feelings strongly.
  • 11 / 22 / 33 — master numbers, intense, gifted, often need extra support.
